Ended up getting to Whakatune on the Bay of Plenty. Just couple days to rest, and enjoy the area.
Took time to walk along the waterfront.
Taking in the artwork.
This one is at the entrance into the harbor.
Enjoyed sitting on the beach taking in the summer sunshine.
Noticing the larger grains of sand on this beach.
The park at he end of the town was dedicated to local man. Signs are in Maori and English.
Maori museum but it was closed.
A special cave that had meaning in the area.
On my way back in town I am reminded that everything is now on CCT cameras.
and of course taking time to smell the flowers!
Nice Waterfall near town.
Took a walk the other side of town a few miles to the coastline.
Watching and felling the pounding waves against the shore.
Then had to do some laundry in town.
So much to appreciate and take in.
Winding down my time here in NZ. What an amazing time and ride in this beautiful country. The terrain and vegetation is so varied from North Island to South Island. The people are kind and friendly.
Pausing to just appreciate the time ive had here. Was not all about the riding, or finding the most challenging rides. Much more than that for me. It’s a renewal of my love of travel and have to appreciate the ADVrider community around the globe that share these friendships, generously helping with motorcycles, routes, hospitality and kindness. Forever grateful for riding community.
Packing up for my final days ride to return the motorcycle, and then have some extra days in Auckland, to rest, explore and be ready for my flight home.
